Business Genome

Every idea on this site is scored across 34 metrics - things like recurring revenue potential, automation, competition, and regulatory risk - derived from its business plan. Scores are relative -- each metric is benchmarked against the full corpus of scored ideas on the platform, so a high score means high compared to everything else here, not just high in isolation. The tools below are different ways to explore that scoring: filtering to exact thresholds, ranking by what matters to you, comparing ideas head to head, or finding the gaps nobody has filled yet.

The 6 dimensions behind every score

The 34 metrics aren't a flat list - they're grouped into 6 fixed dimensions, the same ones behind every radar chart, comparison, and cluster centroid across these tools.

Business Model

How the business actually makes money - recurring revenue, pricing power, and whether the model extends to marketplace, enterprise, or white-label deals.

Market

The world the idea competes in - how crowded it is, how fast it's growing, and how urgently customers need a solution.

Operations

What it takes to run the business day to day - how automatable it is, how much it depends on the founder personally, and how well it scales.

Product

How hard the product itself is to build and keep building - MVP and technical complexity, ongoing maintenance, and how fast new features can ship.

Growth

How the business could realistically acquire customers over time - virality, network effects, referrals, and community, not just paid ads.

Risk

What could go wrong structurally - regulatory exposure, fraud risk, and how dependent the business is on a platform it doesn't control.

How every score gets built

Each idea's business plan is run through 26 deterministic rule-based scorers - pattern matching against the plan's own text, not a black box - covering most of the 34 metrics. The remaining metrics, the ones that don't reduce well to keyword rules, go through a single AI scoring pass instead. Every result is validated into the documented 0-100 range for that metric before it's saved; nothing gets published outside that contract.

The pipeline itself is versioned - it's currently on version 4, with a maintained changelog of what changed and why at each version - so a score reflects a specific, improvable methodology, not a one-time snapshot that never gets revisited.

Frequently asked questions

How is a Business Genome score different from an idea's regular score?

An idea's regular score summarizes overall quality in one number. Business Genome breaks that down into 34 separate metrics across 6 dimensions - recurring revenue, automation, competition, regulatory risk, and more - so you can filter, weight, and compare on the specific things that matter to you instead of trusting one blended score.

Why haven't all ideas been scored yet?

Business Genome scoring runs as its own pipeline, separate from idea generation, and scoring the full catalog is ongoing - the live count above reflects exactly how many ideas are scored right now, not a fixed subset.

What does a high score actually mean?

Every metric is corpus-relative, not absolute - a high automation score means high compared to every other scored idea on the platform, not high against some external industry benchmark. That's also why scores can shift slightly as more ideas get scored: the comparison set itself grows.

Which tool should I start with?

Smart Filters if you already know your hard requirements (e.g. "automation above 70"). Opportunity Explorer if you'd rather weight several priorities at once and see a ranked list. Comparison to decide between a shortlist of specific ideas. Market Landscape or Clusters to explore broadly before narrowing down. Gap Finder to find combinations almost nobody has built yet.

Is Business Genome free to use?

Yes. Every tool here is free, including for guests - Portfolio Diversification is the only one that requires a free account (to know which ideas are yours), not a paid plan.
