Frequently asked questions
How is Smart Filters different from Opportunity Explorer?
Smart Filters uses hard thresholds - an idea either matches your range on every enabled metric or it doesn't. Opportunity Explorer instead weights metrics against each other and ranks by a composite score, so an idea can still rank highly even if it isn't perfect on every dimension. Use Filters when you have non-negotiable requirements; use Explorer when you're balancing trade-offs.
What do the quick-filter chips actually do?
Each chip is a curated 2-metric combination representing a recognizable business archetype - for example "High Automation / Low Competition" filters to ideas in the top tertile for automation and the bottom tertile for competition, at the same time. They're shortcuts for combinations worth checking first, not different from setting the same two range sliders yourself.
Why do only some metrics support the quick-filter tertile buckets?
14 of the 34 metrics are bucketed into low/mid/high tertiles (relative to the scored corpus) for use in chips and Gap Finder's grid. The other 20 are still fully filterable here with exact min/max range sliders - the tertile bucket is an extra classification on top for the metrics best suited to a 3-way split, not a limitation on which metrics you can filter.
Can I filter by category or tag instead of a metric?
Not directly on this page, but Market Landscape's rows link back here pre-filtered to every idea behind a specific tag or category average, and Gap Finder's grid cells link here pre-filtered to a specific metric-bucket combination within a category. Either is a faster path into Smart Filters than manually re-selecting metrics.
